Read it a long time ago as the first book of this author. Frequently criticised for his style and lack of sophistication; Michal Viewegh is nevertheless very popular. One of the reasons may be the fact that his stories may be about things that are ordinary and common but they are also so very much alive and true - however much one does not like to admit it. We have all felt it, and may all be trying to avoid it - the feeling of everything ordinary and common, and yet belonging to life.
